Start in soccer:

I started soccer when I was 5 years old. My older brother played and my dad was the coach. I wanted to play with all the other kids, even if I was the smallest! “Though she be small, she is fierce.”

Inspiration to coach:

My parents, being involved referring, coaching and helping establish and run Norwin Soccer Club, were of course big influences to lead me to coach. However, the coach that left the love for the game on me was “Mr. Mesz.”

He was my all-boy select coach from Norwin. I started at U10 (only 8 years old), and played with the boys team until U13. He was hard, and sometimes a little crazy, but he was passionate about the game, dedicated to his team, and I always felt like he cared about me as a player, and a person.

Favorite part of coaching soccer:

It’s hard to limit it to just one! As I have grown as a coach, a player, and a parent, I have come to appreciate so many different aspects. But, my top 2 favorite parts about the game are learning and the people. I love learning and talking about the game from others, whether it’s a parent, player, a ref, or a coach. I love the kids. I love learning about them; learning about who they are inside and outside of the sport.

Favorite player/team:

My favorite team is ALWAYS the one I’m coaching, but I have some deep love for past teams I’ve coached. My favorite player lives with me. 🙂 <3

When not coaching soccer:

Is there anything outside of soccer?  😉 If I have time, I enjoy crafting and music, but mostly my spare time is with my family - trying to make other games, practices, concerts, or shows and I’m a big family game night advocate!
