Start in soccer:

At the age of 10, my best friend told me she was signing up for soccer, so I decided I was doing the same. Luckily my parents agreed! We weren't a soccer family, but the fields were close by. My best friend walked away from soccer a few seasons later, but I was hooked.

Inspiration to coach:

I grew up where most coaches are parent volunteers that learn the game just so their child is able to have a team to play on. When I was 15 years old, one of those parents asked me to come to practice and teach her u11 team some defensive concepts.

She continued to invite me to help at her sessions; and soon other coaches started inviting me to theirs. When I decided not to play in college but rather go to a school closer to home, I was asked to start coaching teams as a set coach locally.

Each of the coaches that kept inviting me back to help, and all of my personal coaches that I had such a positive soccer experience with, ignited my enthusiasm to start coaching.

Favorite part of coaching soccer:

My favorite part is that 'a-ha' moment that is typically followed by a smile.

Sometimes, it's when an athlete finally "gets" a skill they've been trying to master. Or the team succeeds at a larger concept we've been working on in practice. Or when they realize their teammates are some of their best friends and they are excited to come to practice and compete with them.

Seeing these moments that are so much more than playing soccer... that realization of true potential and developing relationships... these are the moments when athletes grow as humans and are by far and away my favorite aspect of soccer to be a part of.

Favorite player/team:

The US Women's team that won the World Cup in '99 will always be a favorite for me.

Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Julie Foudy -- they showed the world that women's soccer was something to care about. It was a game to be interested in.

When not coaching soccer:

My day job was once running my own marketing/PR company, and I liked that... but then I got the opportunity to turn my 'day job' into helping run things at Hotspurs! So, now I spend my days and nights around, discussing, planning things for the beautiful game!  My biggest hobby is Max (my dog). I do enjoy live music, and traveling, and running (although it's a love-hate relationship), and, while I can't list cooking as a real hobby yet, it's on my hobby to-do list, just keep watching the Great British Bake Off adding new baking supplies to my Amazon cart....
