Start in soccer:

I started playing football (soccer) at the age of 5 for a team called Charles Utd. I got into it because an friend, who was year older than me invited me along since his dad coached, that’s how the journey began....I fell in love with the game.

Inspiration to coach:

Coach Mark and his former coach Stephan Constantine (current Indian National Team Coach) at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia. (Jan 2018)

At College my coach was Stephan Constantine. He is the reason I started coaching.

I loved playing for him, and learned so much in my year with him -- his session were always tough but enjoyable. He pulled me aside and told me I should think about coaching due to my knowledge and personality (maybe he was also letting me know I wasn’t quite good enough to go pro 😉 ).

I then got my FA Level 1 and started on the ladder.Stephen is now Head Coach of the Indian National team.

Favorite part of coaching soccer:

My favorite part of soccer is traveling and meeting new people. I love going to tournaments and taking in the sites of the town/city we are in. I try to eat at different places that are special to that area. I’ve met so many people because of soccer -- life long friends!

From a coaching perspective, I love training and helping players achieve things that they thought they couldn’t do. I love to see teams and individuals progress.

Favorite player/team:

My favorite soccer team is Portsmouth. And my favorite player is, in my opinion, the best goalkeeper of all time Peter Schmeichel. I used to watch him on TV and try to recreate his saves in the garden. Watching him is how I learned my 1 v 1 saving techniques.

When not coaching soccer:

I like hockey, tennis and basketball. American football is growing on me.

I love to go watch the Pens. I will go to the odd Pirates game too.

Other than sports I like to travel, socialize, watch movies and wrestling.

Of course, I can't go without mentioning hanging with my dog Apollo and two cats Boots and Daphne.
