Home of the Champions
We are delighted that our 87 Boys team have
captured the Region 1 Directors League title making them the first ever PA
West boys team to reach this dizzy level. They then went on to an
excellent run in the Region 1 cup.
They join our 89 Boys team who last year won the
National Indoor Championship and were runners up this year.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches
and parents involved!!
History
We are one of the oldest teams in the league as well as being one of
the founding members. In our first 21-years Hotspurs had only fielded 4
previous teams. However, each team became State Champions so we have a
long and proud bloodline to follow. In 2003 we decided to expand and now
run both Boys and Girls teams (Lady Hotspurs)
Philosophy
Hotspurs philosophy is to build a strong committed team that plays
total soccer. We also undertake to advance each player’s soccer skills
and career as far as possible. For these reasons we do not cherry pick
every season, nor do we subscribe to a revolving door roster. We
are committed to our players and expect them to be committed to us. It is
more important to us to play quality soccer rather than win, with a firm
belief that as our soccer improves our win ratio will improve also. The
style of "total soccer" was made popular by the great Dutch
teams of the 80’s and more recently South Korea (no stars just a great
team). It emphasizes positional play with attacking fullbacks, wing play,
overlapping etc. It has also been termed "Thinking Soccer".
Another belief that we have is that it shouldn’t be financially
onerous to play soccer. For this reason, we have some of the lowest fees
in the league. The tournaments that we enter tend to be closer to home.
Our dues are normally around $500 for each season.
