Take-2 of the “inaugural” season for the Pittsburgh Hotspurs (WPSL) Women’s First Team is starting to shape up with the signing of goalkeeper Bella DeFabbo, current Duquesne (D1) junior.

“Bella made a great impression on our coaching team on the first meeting,” said head coach Tom Ovenden. “She is a focused goalie that shows maturity. That level of being switched on will continue to raise the level we demand of the players all season long.”

Prior to joining the Lady Dukes, the Cranberry Twp native played with Beadling SC and at Seneca Valley High School

“I am looking forward to starting the season and being a part of Hotspurs growing the game of soccer in Pittsburgh,” said DeFabbo.

Playing in the WPSL, in a very competitive division, provides me the opportunity to play with and against other current and past collegiate athletes. I want to play and grow as a player over the summer, and with the Hotspurs, I can do just that.”

The Women’s First Team game schedule is yet to be released, however will include games at Founders Field from May thru July.

A second tryout for the team is being held on April 3rd. More info here.
